Yesterday, while in Pompeii, I couldn’t help but take his picture, and I’m not one to take many pictures.

When one stands at the edge of the room, with this incredible, well-preserved wall-to-wall fresco, the woman to the right is looking right at you. She’s captivating.

There is speculation that this is the face of the woman of the house.

From the Villa of the Mysteries, this is art from two millennia ago.

“…exquisite frescos in Room 5, which are usually interpreted as showing the initiation of a bride into a Greco-Roman mystery cult.
