US and Israel Concerns Over Egypt Deploying Tanks and Troops to Sinai; and Video of Egyptian Armed Forces in Training Exercises using Ultralights

Here’s a video of the Egyptian Armed Forces making the rounds. It shows Egyptian paratroopers, soldiers and aircraft in training exercises. In the video, you will see the use of ultralight aircraft, which can be an innovative way to deploy men. However, what I’m seeing is many expressing concern that using ultralight aircraft is reminiscent of the October 7 attacks in Israel, so this is concerning many. The reasons for concern are circumstantial.

Also, as a side note, the deployment of Egyptian troops and armour into Sinai has the White House and Israelis concerned. What Egypt is doing might be a knee-jerk reaction to Trump (and Israel), i.e. sending a message to Trump (and Israel) that his peace plan that involves Egypt taking in Gazans, isn’t something Egypt wants to do.

Moving armour and setting up bases in Sinai in violation of the peace treaty could be Egypt’s President Sisi creating leverage for bargaining for the Trump Gaza plan. Let’s see.

Furthermore, what if the floodgates of Gaza were opened? Wouldn’t Egypt be concerned with armed terrorists such as Hamas, PIJ, PFLP-GC, PFLP and other groups going into Egypt? Wouldn’t they want to be ready for such a scenario?

The Egyptians and Israelis have seen the dividends of peace pay off in many ways between the two countries. That includes past cooperation in security matters, such as taking on Hamas and IS-SP terrorists operating within Sinai.

Also, consider that in the past, because of Egypt’s war on IS-SP, Israel basically allowed extra military and armour in the Sinai despite the peace treaty terms so Egypt could fight the Jihadis.

I’ve seen people commenting and questioning why Egypt is so interested in building such a huge military force. Some are saying it’s because Egypt wants to fight Israel.

Consider this, Egypt has several other borders and waters to protect, internal issues including terrorism, and water concerns. Egypt borders Libya that is a country that is tantamount split, had a Civil War, has AQ and ISIS terrorists wreaking havoc, etc… Egypt has a border with Sudan that is presently in a Civil War that holds Egypt’s direct interests… Egypt has to deal with terrorism inside its borders, not only IS-SP but other Jihadis in Southern Egypt… Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, on the Red Sea, threatening Egypt and the Suez Canal… Egypt worries that Ethiopia and/or Sudan might build a dam on the Nile, thereby controlling the water to Egypt, and water is a cause for war… And, like so many other Arab nations, Egypt worries about Iran… Meanwhile, it’s Egypt’s military that has maintained stability in Egypt, re the revolutions were all virtual coup d’etats, not a mob overthrow… Egypt has a big military force for several reasons.

Interestingly, the build-up began before Trump announced his plans for Gaza Royce. What do you think?

I’d need a timeline on this because, remember, Egypt has been fighting IS-SP in Sinai– though Sisi says they’ve been destroyed, they have not gone away.

Also, opening the floodgates of Gaza is a big concern for Egypt, especially regarding the armed militants, another reason to have more troops in Sinai, IMHO

And possibly, they are sending a message to Israel and hedging their bets.

Also, setting up shop for leverage in any bargaining be it with Israel, the US or both, as I’ve stated.
