It appears to me that Canadians are divided between supporting Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Liberal Party government walking away from the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) free trade talks, and those who believe Carney walked away from the agreement at the last minute with malicious intent, for his own personal reasons, and for the sake of China, thereby putting Canada’s economic health at extreme risk.
Carney is counting on Canadians with an emotional nationalist fervour and TDS to support him and his bad decisions– there, I said it.
Carney is a China apologist; more and more, he appears to be in bed with Beijing and its interests.
China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are no friends of Canada, despite what Carney is trying to project. China spies on Canada, steals from Canada, meddles in Canadian elections, and more.
There is a infamous video of Carney sitting at a table with his Liberal cabinet minions, where he says very melodramatically, with long, almost ominous pauses– pathetic as it is– about his visit to China, a first for a Prime Minister in 10 years, that he “believes the progress that we have made, and the partnership sets us up well for the new (pause)…. world (pause)… order.” The pauses are eye-rolling stuff.

So, why the melodramatic ominous tone? Who was Carney directing that message to? Was he provoking Washington?
Does Carney, the master negotiator and economist– despite his track record of disasters– believe that China can somehow replace the US as a major trading partner? If so, this is insanity. Or, what is his game?
This behaviour leaves one wondering if the PM and many Liberal MPs are not only emotionally driven by anti-Americanism but are also in China’s pocket. It’s a valid question. (Carney’s list of corruption and conflicts of interest is a pattern with him.)
Canada diversifying trade is a great idea, but that doesn’t mean closing the door to our largest trading partner, our best ally and alienating Washington.
Let’s be clear, Carney and the Liberals are choosing China over the US… China, the same country that provides arms components to Iran and Russia, and busts sanctions… Russia, a country which could go to war with Canada… China is Iran’s biggest oil customer… China is a member of BRICS, a group of emerging economies and developing countries that seeks to challenge Western and US-dominated sectors; in other words, it is meant to weaken countries like Canada, not just the US.
Within China’s toolbox for strategic influence are tools designed and implemented to sow discord and division around the world that serve Beijing’s interests.
This present division between the US and Canada because of the failed CUSMA talks, and the trade war between the US and Canada, because Carney makes things personal (meaning he is driven to get one over on President Trump), while pushing China’s interests (which is a provocation), couldn’t have Xi Jinping and the CCP any happier.
IMHO, Carney has lied about the real reasons he didn’t agree to the new CUSMA terms at the last minute. Let’s see if Canadians will ever get access to the details of the actual reasons for walking away.
For example, Carney claimed there was a sovereignty issue because the US was stipulating who Canada could trade with. The fact is, for years, our free trade agreements have included a clause. (There are good reasons for having an agreement that has the foresight to protect a country’s interests, to stop backdooring in trade with items from shady or sanctioned nations, and that has the foresight to see security and defence issues and factors that could come into play.)
Having restrictions agreed upon within the CUSMA countries as to whom they can trade with, and/or how they can trade, is not new, as the Canadian politician and economist Mark Warner has pointed out in interviews, because such a clause has always been there in the agreements:
★ CUSMA Article 32.10 ‘requires any member country (Canada, the U.S., or Mexico) to give three months’ advance notice before starting free-trade talks with a “non-market country” like China, allowing other members to terminate the pact and replace it with a bilateral agreement.’
⚠️ Because of Carney’s strange and irrational focus and partnership with malevolent China, did we lose this deal with our lifeblood trading partner to whome we are attached at the hip, the largest economy and most powerful nation in the world, and our key ally?
Is Carney serving both his own personal and emotional interests as well as Chinese interests?

➥As an aside, I have a story about the last time steel and aluminum were an issue for Canada and the US during Trump’s first term, and how Canada, under Trudeau and his administration, dropped the ball; I was behind the scenes on this; and the story would reflect how Trump at the time, really did not want to slap tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum; but the Liberals didn’t care, didn’t take the threat and their jobs seriously, and let it happen. Liberals fail every time.
