Aquino Tank Weekend 2025, British Armour and Veterans, Volunteers, Steel Aces, MAG, and More

July 29, 2025July 29, 2025

For all the tank nerds out there, here is a short informative and fascinating tidbit clip (below) by Australian Lottie The Tank Whisperer about the British armour and the British veterans participating in the Aquino Tank Weekend this past weekend in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

This year, Aquino Tank Weekend was sponsored by the online game ‘Steel Aces‘.

I was mainly busy working as an armourer with Movie Armaments Group (MAG), but also participated as an Iraqi soldier in the First Gulf War re-enactments. (My PKM kept jamming while the other PKM worked well, but of course.)

It was terribly hot this past weekend, but there was still a big crowd at the event. As usual, there were visitors from the US and Europe.

Much thanks to the Ontario Regiment Museum, Steel Aces, and all the volunteers who work so hard to make this happen.

There were some great displays, including private collections of military vehicles, WWI reenactors, WWII Japanese soldiers reenactors, and even a Roman Soldier and his tent.

The flag in the photo apparently once flew over the UK embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. The third man from from the bottom left is “The Chieftain” (Nicholas Moran) from World of Tanks and The Chieftain Channel. Fourth from the top right is Michael, CEO of Steel Aces. Photo by Royce de Melo.

So much work goes into fixing the tanks and vehicles to get them to work, and to keep them working throughout the year.

The museum probably has the biggest collection of working tanks in North America.

Let’s hope next year is just as good, but maybe less hot during the days.

It is an impressive event, giving a rare opportunity for people to see and feel the action, and to learn military history, in a super fun way.

How awesome! Looks like a great fun day to be had. Great history to keep alive as soon all tanks will be not used in warfar.

A great fun weekend. It technically runs for three days. It’s a lot of work and a lot of fun. The volunteers make it happen.
