I’m a bit late on this, but…
On November 24, 2025, the White House issued an executive order that pretty much has the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) as an organizatio non grata, which will begin the process of reviewing MB affiliates and chapters and possibly designating them as foreign terrorist organizations and global terrorist movements.
Sebastion Gorka, the deputy assistant to the president and senior director of the Counter Terrorism National Security Council, posted on Facebook:
“…in the presence of my NSC colleague who helped author the Executive Order, President Donald J. Trump designated multiple chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood, including the Egyptian branch which is the progenitor of all modern Jihadists, al Qaeda, ISIS and Hamas included.
As we left the Oval, President Trump explicitly instructed us to inform the World of his tectonic act.”
The White House stated that, “A senior leader of the Egyptian chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood, on October 7, 2023, called for violent attacks against United States partners and interests, and Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood leaders have long provided material support to the militant wing of Hamas. Should the MB be declared a terrorist organization, this will please some Arab nations. The MB is considered a terrorist organization in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Libya has banned the MB. Jordan has moved to put restrictions on the MB and might designate them as a terrorist organization.
Egypt has extensive experience dealing with the group, dating back almost 100 years to the movement’s creation by Hassan al-Banna in 1928. (There is also a history of links with the Nazis in Egypt and internationally, with its creation and during WWII.)
The MB is the grandfather of Al Qaeda and the great-grandfather of ISIS.
The MB is the father of Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ), the Islamist movement that assassinated Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat.
Ayman al-Zawahiri was a high-ranking member of the EIJ, who was involved with the Sadat assassination, and later became the number two and number one man of Al Qaeda.
The MB hides itself behind organizations and political movements. Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was affiliated with the MB, although he was officially a member of the Freedom and Justice Party. He was deposed in 2013 after being legitimately elected as President- be careful what you wish for- in the first elections after the 2011 revolution that saw President Hosni Mubarak removed from power and imprisoned. (Morsi was incarcerated after being overthrown by the current President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Morsi died in 2019 while incarcerated and on trial.)
US President Obama went out of his way to appease Morsi and the MB, inviting MB members to the White House. A delegation of Egyptian MB members met with ‘U.S. National Security Council officials at the White House in April 2012’. (Meanwhile, Trump has met with the Islamist and former AQ Syria leader, now President of Syria, al-Sharaa, in the White House, which I find concerning.)
The MB had renounced violence long ago, especially its Egyptian branch, but not really. Hamas is virtually a military wing of the Gaza MB.

Addendum 04 Dec 2025: RE: “An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America” RE: ‘Key Goals and Context:

It is considered a key document by critics for understanding the organization’s long-term strategy in the West.
The document outlines a plan for a “civilization-jihadist process” aimed at transforming society from within.’
